Wanda "Wanda P" Patterson

AM1360 WCGL

Session: Terrestrial Radio Relationships

WANDA P, is one of the most recognizable voices in Jacksonville’s gospel radio market! She began her radio career at AM 1360 WCGL, Jacksonville, Florida, in February 1999 as a weekend announcer. During her tenure at the station, she became Marketing/Programming Assistant where she was responsible for on-air promotions, music tracking, and public affairs programming. Also, she co-produced the stations highly visible public affairs talk show, “1360 Live Talk” with host Betty Bullock. Joining the staff of Gospel 1400 WZAZ in 2003, she quickly jumped through the ranks to become the station’s Assistant Program Director. Her duties included: producing the K.D. Bowe Morning Show; and hosting “The Jacksonville View” (a weekly public affairs talk show). In 2006, she co-created and co-hosted a once-weekly specialty program called “The Show”. Known for its wit, ‘The Show’ gained enormous popularity among Jacksonville’s gospel radio listeners and garnered many fans in the national Gospel music scene such as: comedian Akintunde, Tonex, V. Michael McKay, Vashawn Mitchell, Vickie Winans, Dwayne Woods, & etc. These efforts led to Gospel Today Magazine recognizing WZAZ in their 2007 Annual Report as one of “Gospel’s Top 25 Radio Stations” in the country!

Since returning to the airwaves of WCGL AM 1360 in December 2007, Wanda P. has become quite busy in the Gospel music and radio industry. In addition to being the stations’ premier female on-air personality, she serves as Vice President of the Florida Gospel Announcer’s Guild (FGAG) and President of the local Jacksonville, Florida chapter (Jax GAG). In January 2010, she became a columnist for the online magazine for independent Christian artists, AIRPLAY 360. In April 2010, Wanda became the host and producer of a new 1-hour radio show for independent artists called THE INDEPENDENT SHOWCASE (TIS). In under a year, TIS became CJB Radio’s most listened program. The show has become a hit, and now is syndicated internationally. The show is heard on internet radio (www.cjbradio.com), in North Little Rock, Arkansas on KVDW 1530 AM; in the Caribbean on the island of St. Kitts/Nevis on Praise FM 99.3; in Kampala, Uganda on Spirit FM 96.6; and on Radio Graaff-Reinet 90.2 FM in Eastern Cape, South Africa.
