Mr. Johnson is a practicing attorney serving in an Of Counsel capacity with the general practice law firm of The Bozeman Law Firm, where he specializes in entertainment and tax law. He is a member of the Bars of New York and the District of Columbia as well as a participant in the Entertainment Law Forum of the American Bar Association, the Sports and Entertainment Division of the D.C. Bar and a tenured faculty member of the Academic Division of the James Cleveland Gospel Music Workshop of America.
Mr. Johnson’s practice includes significant prior experience in the Office of the General Counsel at the National Endowment for the Arts, where he specialized in the areas of arts law, government practice, and intellectual property matters. Since the mid-eighties he has represented a wide spectrum of creative talent and industry entities including musicians, authors, recording artists, composers, playwrights, producers, independent labels and artist management companies among others. Subject matter has ranged from the handling of trademark matters to the negotiation of recording, distribution, publishing, talent agreements, management and live performance contracts and the provision of music publishing administration services and facilitation of PRO affiliations.
Mr. Johnson is a frequent lecturer and panelist on legal and business issues in the music industry. Mr. Johnson received an A.B. in economics from Columbia College in 1974 and a J.D. from the Georgetown University Law Center in 1978.
